Infant Program

An academic program for students 6 weeks–18 months old.

Our Infant Montessori Classroom provides a safe, nurturing, clean, and thoughtfully prepared environment designed to support each infant’s individual development. We understand that every baby has unique needs, routines, and milestones, so our teachers provide attentive, responsive care while following each child’s personalized schedule.

What Our Center Provides

• Wipes for daily diapering and personal care.
• Age-appropriate table foods for infants who have reached the appropriate developmental stage and have parental approval.
• A clean, organized, and carefully prepared Montessori classroom.
• Montessori materials and activities selected to support each infant’s developmental milestones.
• Labeled individual storage and designated spaces for each child’s belongings.

What Parents Provide

Parents are responsible for providing:

• Diapers
• Pre-made bottles
• Baby food
• Diaper ointments or creams
• Any other approved personal care items their infant may need

All bottles, food, milk, and personal items should be clearly labeled with the child’s name and any necessary instructions.

Safe Bottle and Feeding Practices

To support safe and consistent feeding:

• Parents provide prepared bottles containing formula or breast milk.
• Staff do not mix formula at the center, helping reduce the risk of incorrect measurements or preparation.
• Bottles are warmed using bottle warmers to help ensure they are heated gently and evenly.
• Infants have access to a dedicated refrigerator, microwave, and bottle warmers located within the infant classroom.
• Teachers follow all parent-provided feeding instructions and safe food-handling procedures, and an infant feeding form is filled out monthly to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Bottle temperatures are checked before feeding.

Individualized Feeding and Daily Schedules

Each infant follows an individualized schedule based on their age, needs, and family routine. This may include:

• Bottle and meal times
• Nap times
• Diaper changes
• Floor play
• Montessori activities
• Sensory experiences
• Music and movement
• Fine- and gross-motor development activities

Parents complete an Infant Feeding Form each month. This allows families to update feeding amounts, bottle times, food preferences, dietary changes, and other important instructions. Our teachers use this information to ensure each infant is fed according to the family’s wishes.

Montessori Floor Beds and Classroom Transitions

We use Montessori floor beds for infants who have reached the appropriate age and developmental milestones, in accordance with applicable safety requirements.

Floor beds can help children:

• Develop independence and freedom of movement.
• Become familiar with a Montessori sleeping environment.
• Prepare for a smoother transition into the next classroom.
• Build confidence as they progress through important physical milestones.

Teachers carefully observe each child’s development and work with families before making changes to sleeping arrangements or classroom routines.

Montessori Learning and Development

Our infant program introduces age-appropriate Montessori experiences that encourage curiosity, movement, concentration, and independence.

Activities may include:

• Montessori materials that prepare children for the next classroom.
• Music and movement.
• Tummy time and supervised floor exploration.
• Reaching, grasping, crawling, pulling up, and other gross-motor activities.
• Fine-motor activities that strengthen hand and finger coordination.
• Language-rich interactions, songs, books, and conversations.
• Sensory activities that support the development of sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste.
• Activities that encourage cause-and-effect learning and object permanence.

Shoe-Free Infant Classroom

Our infant classroom is a shoe-free environment to help prevent dirt, germs, and outdoor debris from being tracked onto the floors where infants crawl, sit, and play.

• Parents, teachers, and visitors are provided with shoe covers before entering.
• Classroom floors and learning areas are cleaned and maintained regularly.
• This practice helps protect infants while supporting a cleaner and healthier environment.

Safety and Emergency Preparedness

The safety of every infant is a top priority.

• The classroom includes evacuation cribs for emergency situations and fire drills.
• Teachers practice and follow established evacuation procedures, and a fire drill is conducted once a month.
• Infant attendance and emergency information are carefully maintained.
• The classroom is child-proofed and arranged to support safe movement and exploration.
• Teachers provide close supervision throughout feeding, sleeping, play, and care routines, including 15-minute safe sleep checks.

Our goal is to provide infants with a loving and peaceful Montessori foundation where they feel safe, respected, and supported. Through individualized care, purposeful activities, responsive teachers, and strong communication with families, we help each child develop the skills and confidence needed for a successful transition into the next stage of their Montessori journey.
